Céline Browning | Arts + Literature Laboratory | Madison Contemporary Arts Center

Céline Browning

Céline Browning is an artist, art writer and educator based in Chicago and Boston. Using the vocabulary of surrealism, Browning deconstructs, combines, and repurposes familiar functional objects, creating an uncanny visual language that reimagines what these objects signify.

Statement

Using the vocabulary of surrealism and pop-art, I deconstruct, combine, and repurpose familiar functional objects, creating an uncanny visual language that reimagines what these objects signify. The body of work titled “War Games” is made of reimagined children's toys, and aims to examine the American fascination with weapons of war.
