Colin Holden

Colin has a range of interests and expertise that he brings to his work. He has a Masters in the History and Philosophy of Science, another is History, and is ever curious in finding themes and concepts to weave through his work. Living for periods in Mt. Vernon IA, South Bend and Richmond, IN and Columbus Ohio Colin has been working with artists and making art for more than two decades.

Statement

I have three convictions; that pictures are first and foremost parts of stories, that medieval and comic art are two heights of storytelling art, and that knowing what the artist is thinking is overrated.

I’ve been making art seriously for nearly two decades, and have spent most of the second half working on a large scale. For all my works, my technique is layering. I layer images and ideas over others, until the original is obscured or gone.
