Call for Poets & Writers for Watershed Reading at Arts + Literature Laboratory
Theme: Advice
Reading: Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 8 PM
Submission deadline: December 1, 2016
According to Oscar Wilde, “The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself.” Sometimes the advice gets passed along in the form of a poem, and it can be about anything from how to be happy, end of days advice from an ex-zombie, or what to wear to your father’s funeral. Do you have a set of poems or a short piece of prose that dispenses or involves advice? If so, we’d love to see it.
Please send 4 – 6 poems or a short prose piece (one that can be read out loud in about 7-10 minutes) on the theme ALONG WITH a 50 to 75 word bio, IN THE BODY OF AN E-MAIL to <literature@artlitlab.org> by December 1, 11:59 p.m. We will make every effort to inform those chosen of our decision by December 10. Although we can't afford to pay readers, this is a great opportunity to sell books and read with other talented people in a very special environment.
Selections will be made with an eye to assembling a program that represents a diversity of poets, styles, and approaches to the theme.
Selected poets MUST be available to read in person.
