Loving Orphaned Space: Book Launch

Join author and geographer Mrill Ingram and environmental artists on Saturday April 30, 2022 starting at 7:00 PM to celebrate the launch of the new book Loving Orphaned Space: The Art and Science of Belonging to Earth. The book, from Temple University Press, is an invitation to see the world around you differently, and recognize the power in connecting to everyday space. Catalyzed by work by artists including Mierle Laderman Ukeles and M. Jenea Sanchez and by a series of case studies of art-science collaborations, the book offers a guide to seeing everyday space as a portal through which we can discover old and tell new stories about how we dwell on Earth.

The gathering will include a reading by the author and geographer Mrill Ingram, presentations from artists Kristin Thielking, Lisa Beth Robinson, and Lillian Sizemore, music from the MurmurMurmur Collective, and followed by a moderated Q&A with writer Erik Ness and a reception. This event is free and open to the public.
