Austin Moule and Andres Torres engage in an exploration of materiality and meaning through the vehicle of abstract painting. Moule’s work reflects a casual attitude toward the traditions of painting with keen interest in process and the interaction of disparate media. Similarly, Torres is involved in an investigation of materiality but on a smaller, more intimate scale. His minimal paintings quietly assert themselves as aesthetic objects as well as subjects for contemplation. Though abundant with difference, the artists share a common interest in unorthodox paint application, composition, and color, and the communicative potential of painting.
