Critics and Lovers: Two Short Plays

Falconbridge Players presents two clever classics by Irish playwright St. John Greer Ervine as staged readings.

On Tuesday, November 29 at 7pm, Falconbridge Players will present The Magnanimous Lover and The Critics as staged readings. Free admission, advance tickets available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/critics-and-lovers-two-short-plays-tickets-449048003667.

In 1912, Irish playwright St. John Greer Ervine wrote The Magnanimous Lover, a short drama about a young woman who stands up for herself against convention and expectation. Critical reaction was mixed.

So Ervine fired back one year later by writing The Critics, a comedy about the supposed experts who turn their nose up at Hamlet because of the bad language and the complete lack of dancing elephants.
