Cutting Down the Cottonwood | Arts + Literature Laboratory | Madison Contemporary Arts Center

Cutting Down the Cottonwood

As part of In Good Company, an expo of work by emerging veteran artists curated by Yvette Pino, Arts + Literature Laboratory presents Cutting Down the Cottonwood: Recent Work by Eric J. Garcia from November 17 though December 22, 2018. An artist reception will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018, 7-9pm. Gallery hours are Thurs-Fri 12-4pm, Sat 11am-3pm, and by appointment.

Known for mixing history and culture with contemporary politics, Garcia always tries to create art that more than just aesthetics. In Cutting Down the Cottonwood, Garcia brings a variety of paintings, prints and drawings not only to illustrate his personal military experience, but also to help us to take a more critical look at our military in general.

This exhibition is supported in part by Dane Arts with additional funds from the Endres Mfg. Company Foundation, The Evjue Foundation, Inc., charitable arm of The Capital Times, the W. Jerome Frautschi Foundation, and the Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation.
