Tom Linfield is Vice President of Community Impact for the Madison Community Foundation (MCF). In this capacity he oversees $2 million in annual grantmaking to Dane County organizations. Recent MCF grant initiatives include watershed restoration, a Community Schools initiative, a $1.4 million public library endowment campaign, and a multi-agency coalition STEM education project at community centers. Recent MCF arts grants include projects with Arts + Literature Laboratory, Circus Space, Women’s Artists Forward Fund, DAMA, WYSO, Cycropia, Overture Center, Madison Arts Commission, and many more. Tom has spent his career in non-profits, first as a grant writer in higher education and then as a foundation program officer. Prior to the Madison Community Foundation he wrote grants for The Massachusetts College of Art, Edgewood College, Wisconsin Public Television and the National Center for Outreach. He has a fine arts degree from Brandeis University and is a practicing artist, exhibiting sculpture, mosaics and drawings regularly in the Madison area. Tom heartily recommends the art book Moby-Dick in Pictures: One Drawing for Every Page, by Matt Kish, and still wishes that “Bridesmaids” had won an Oscar.
