Lucas Koehler Combo

On Friday, February 1, 2019 at 8pm, ALL presents Lucas Koehler's funk/jazz fusion group featuring Koehler on upright and electric bass, Steve Banik on piano, and Matthew Allen on drums. Tickets are $10 in advance at https://koehler.bpt.me and $15 at the door. Student tickets $5 off with valid school ID. Advance tickets are available online until 1 hour before the show. Doors open at 7:30pm.

Lucas Koehler

Lucas Koehler is a Madison Bassist recently returning from graduate work in the Chicagoland area. Lucas completed his Master's Degree at NIU in jazz studies working with professors Marlene Rosenberg and Reggie Thomas. Lucas has worked for 15+ years in the Madison area as well as touring Wisconsin with David Deon's Unified Soul. Lucas was a founding member and band leader of local hip-hop group Weapons of Mass Defunktion, and bassist for Nuggernaut, The Jon Hoel Trio, The Jeff Peronto Jazz Orchestra, and many others. Lucas currently works as an educator, sheet music editor, session musician, and performer with Chicago's Nick at Nite, featuring Nick Pontarelli and Gina Knight.

Steve Banik

Steve Banik is a multi-genre music producer living in Madison, WI. While working as a musician in Nashville, Steve toured with several national recording artists and performed on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Good Morning America, the Country Music Awards and the Grand Ole Opry. Steve plays jazz piano in the Madison area and performs regularly with Blues by Five, Capital Jazztet and saxophonist/keyboardist Paul Ester.

Matthew Matty B Allen

Matthew "Matty B" Allen is a Madison based multi-genre drummer/songwriter. Allen has collaborated and studied with many legendary musicians such as Juan de Marcos Gonzalez of the buena Vista social club, Dennis mackrel  of the Count Basie big band, and Balde and Renetta Silva of the 70's rock sensation 'Toby Beau'. Currently, Allen is involved with many up and coming local music projects including  Kainalu, KOI, the Wilder Dietz Singers, and Dance Party District. Allen strives to use music as a means to communicate mindfulness, emotional vulnerability, and empathy.
