Lunch with Maxine

Arts + Literature Laboratory, Madison Jazz Society, and Cafe CODA's Cool School present "Lunch with Maxine," an afternoon with jazz historian Maxine Gordon, Saturday, February 3, 2024, 12:30pm to 4:00pm, at Cafe CODA, 1224 Williamson Street.

From 12:30pm until 2:00pm, "Lunch with Maxine" will be an opportunity to speak with Maxine Gordon, who will tell stories about her husband, legendary saxophonist Dexter Gordon (1923-1991), and discuss her forthcoming book, Quartette: Stories from the lives of Four Women Jazz Musicians - Maxine Sullivan, Velma Middleton, Melba Liston and Shirley Scott. Bring your own lunch. Sodas and a few snacks will be provided.

The discussion will be followed by the Madison Jazz Society Student Led Jazz Jam, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, which takes place the first Saturday of every month. Musicians are invited to join in and participate in the Jazz Jam.
