Winter Festival of Poetry - Week 1

Join us as we kick off the 2025 Winter Festival of Poetry on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 2 PM. The Winter Festival of Poetry, a program of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, is Wisconsin's longest continuously running poetry program of its size. Hosted by poet James P. Roberts, this 8-week series features six poets each week, reading for roughly 10 minutes each. The series runs from January 19 to March 9. The theme this year is PASSPORT TO POETRY, celebrating places we'd prefer to be, especially in the winter! This week's readers are:

  • Steven Espada Dawson (Madison Poet Laureate)
  • Justin Festge Russell (Madison Youth Poet Laureate)
  • Shoshauna Shy
  • Marshall Begel
  • Marilyn L. Taylor
  • Breanna Grow

Each week will have a sub-theme and will feature fun facts about our "travel" destinations. For more information, contact James P. Roberts at JRob52162@aol.com or call 608-242-7340.The Winter Festival of Poetry is supported by Mystery To Me, White Hawk Press, Avol's Books, WORT FM, American Family Insurance & Colleen Frentzel, Dennis Collier, Fran and Louis Rall, Robin Chapman, Gillian Nevers, A Place To Be, Apollo Poetry, Katrin Talbot, Kimberly A.
