The Cross Genre Reading

As readers, our curiousity leads us from genre to genre, skipping easily across boundaries as we seek truth and inspiration. Why should a live reading experience be any different? Join us for the first ever cross-genre Watershed event as we welcome poet Natalie Eilbert, creative nonfiction writer Barrett Swanson, and fiction writer Mary Terrier.

Natalie Eilbert

Natalie Eilbert is the author of three poetry collections, Overland (Copper Canyon Press, forthcoming 2023), Indictus (Noemi Press 2018), Swan Feast (Bloof Books 2015). A recipient of the National Endowment of the Arts in poetry, a former Jay C. and Ruth Halls Fellow at the Wisconsin Institute of Creative Writing, and winner of the George Bogin Memorial Award from Poetry Society of America, Eilbert lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she is a statewide mental health reporter for USA Today Network-Wisconsin.

Author Barrett Swanson

Barrett Swanson is author of the essay collection, Lost in Summerland (Counterpoint 2021), and is a contributing editor at Harper’s Magazine. He was the recipient of a 2015 Pushcart Prize, and his short fiction and essays have been distinguished as notable in Best American Short Stories (2019), Best American Nonrequired Reading (2014), Best American Essays (2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021) and Best American Sports Writing (2017). His work has appeared or is forthcoming in many places, including Harper’s, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, The New York Times Magazine, GQ, The Believer, The Guardian, The New Republic, American Short Fiction, The Atavist, Guernica, Best American Travel Writing 2018, and Best American Travel Writing 2020. Mary Terrier fiction writer

Mary Terrier is a native of Austin, Texas. Her work has appeared in Kenyon Review, Pleiades, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars, and currently teaches creative writing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she is the 2018-2019 Carl Djerassi Fiction Fellow.
