The Winter Festival of Poetry, a program of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, is Wisconsin's longest continuously running poetry program of its size. Hosted by poet James Roberts, this 8-week series features six poets each week, reading for roughly 10-12 minutes each.

Each year the readings are centered around a theme. This year's theme is horses, recalling works by Joy Harjo (She Had Some Horses), Alice Walker (Horses Make a Landscape More Beautiful), and others.

The readings are free and open to the public.

NOTICE: We are closely monitoring Dane Public Health's orders related to gatherings and will adjust event details accordingly to help protect the health of our community. Please check back for the latest information.

The festival is also supported in part with additional funds from the Endres Mfg. Company Foundation, The Evjue Foundation, Inc., charitable arm of The Capital Times, the W. Jerome Frautschi Foundation, and the Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation.
