D.W. Young

D.W. Young is a New York City based filmmaker. His most recent film, Uncropped, about Village Voice photographer James Hamilton and the heyday of alternative journalism, screened as the Centerpiece at DOC NYC in 2023 and opened theatrically in 2024. His previous feature documentary The Booksellers, a behind-the-scenes look at the rare book world, premiered at the New York Film Festival in 2019. His other features include the award-winning documentary A Hole in a Fence and the narrative The Happy House, and his shorts include Dancing on the Silk Razor, Not Interested, A Favor for Jerry, and A Body of Language for The New Yorker.

His films have screened at festivals around the world including NYFF, SXSW, San Francisco International Film Festival, DOC NYC, Woodstock Film Festival, Maryland Film Festival, Millennium Docs Against Gravity, BAFICI and IndieLisboa, and in theaters including Lincoln Center, BAM, IFC Center, Philadelphia Film Society and many more.
