Sepúlveda, one of the most celebrated figures in Latin jazz today, and from Luquillo, Puerto Rico, brings his extraordinary talent to Café CODA in a performance that promises to captivate both jazz aficionados and newcomers alike. With his remarkable blend of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and dynamic jazz improvisation, Sepúlveda’s trumpet virtuosity has earned him international acclaim. With 12 recordings as a band leader, a Latin Grammy for his Big Band recording with Jon Secada, To Benny With Love (BMG, 2017), four Grammy nominations, a Billboard Award, and collaborations with legends including Eddie Palmieri, Dizzy Gillespie, and Tito Puente, Charlie Sepúlveda is recognized as one of the premiere artists in Latin Jazz.

Currently serving as the musical director for Jazz at Lincoln Center in Puerto Rico and professor at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, Sepúlveda’s appearance in Madison represents a special cultural moment that should not be missed.
