Matt Endres Quartet Featuring Ryan Tomski

Join us for an evening of jazz with the Matthew Endres Quartet featuring pianist and composer Dr. Ryan Tomski on Friday, April 24th at 7:00pm. Doors at 6:30pm.

Born in Sauk City, Wisconsin, Dr. Matthew Endres is the teaching professor of drum set and jazz history at the University of Wisconsin, and is the UW Marching Band Percussion Coordinator. In addition, he adjudicates music festivals and competitions extensively throughout the United States. He received his bachelor of music degree in drum set at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, his master’s degree in jazz studies from the University of Illinois, and his doctoral degree in jazz studies and ethnomusicology at the University of Illinois.

Endres has performed extensively as a bandleader and a sideman in national and international venues. He is the drummer for the international award-winning group Old Style Sextet, which in 2014 placed second in the world-renowned Cotai Jazz and Blues Competition in Macau, China. Ryan Tomski is an award-winning multi-genre composer, instrumentalist, and educator originally from Wisconsin. He co-founded big band Big Beat based out of the New York / New Jersey area, and in 2018 completed his Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Performance from The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point and is a graduate of the Jazz Arranging Master's Degree program at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey.
