Join us Sunday, November 22 at 4:00pm for a performance by Ancora String Quartet. Presenting a program spanning Classical elegance, Romantic passion, and early 20th-century French refinement, the ensemble will perform Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in E minor, Op. 44 No. 2; Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 76 No. 6; and Germaine Tailleferre’s String Quartet. The very special finale to the program will be a world premier by Wisconsin composer Sam Fettig.
The Ancora String Quartet is based in Madison, Wisconsin. The members’ credentials include degrees from the University of Texas-Austin, the University of Georgia, the University of Wisconsin, and the New England Conservatory. Individually, they have attended numerous chamber music festivals and performed across the United States and Europe. They perform constantly in Madison and beyond, appearing regularly in such ensembles as the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, the La Crosse Symphony, and the Mosaic Chamber Players.
