Melissa Falcon Field’s debut novel What Burns Away (Sourcebooks 2015) was praised by the Milwaukee Sentinel Journal for its “rare mix of well-written literary fiction with the suspense of a spy novel,” built around a narrative that strives “to ask the hard questions about aging, innocence, loyalty and the importance of place.” Falcon Field has taught Creative Writing at small colleges and writers’ conferences across the country, and currently works as a writing instructor at the Madison Writers Studio. Her writing has appeared in various literary magazines and journals, and she is currently at work on her second novel.
