Shifty Subjects and Unexpected Endings: Online Poetry Workshop

We’ve all driven down the highway on a long trip only to reach our destination wondering how we got there. In this workshop, we’ll explore contemporary poems that shift focus, leaving us disoriented and shaken awake in the end. We’ll pay attention to the moments that push these poems in new directions and how their endings satisfy our expectations. Based on our readings, we’ll write our own poems with the help of writing exercises. Writers will be encouraged to share their work for feedback.
