Cecilia Zabala is an award winning artist on the global music scene. With 8 CDs and close to 20 years international touring experience to her credit, Zabala's music embodies the deep soul of the acoustic guitar, from its Iberian and North African roots, to its versatility as a worldwide voice of modern musical expression. She is also a composer, singer and songwriter of great originality, and an exceptionally powerful and mesmerizing performer.

Cecilia Zabala's distinction as a performing artist is multi-dimensional. From a technical perspective, she is a master singer and instrumentalist, conservatory trained, and a respected guitar instructor in the cosmopolitan center of Buenos Aires. But her musical vision is far from staid. Her music bridges genres from the European classical guitar tradition to Brazilian bossa nova and MPB, from Chilean Nuevo Cancion and its Argentine relative, Nuevo Cancionero, to global jazz. Her music combines many elements of global folkloric music, in a synthesis that bridges so many styles and genres that it can fairly be described as sui generis or without comparison.

Cecilia Zabala was born in Buenos Aires, where she has lived and worked ever since. She began playing guitar around the age of 6, and began singing in a children's chorus at age 8. At age 16, she began studies at the Conservatory Alberto Ginastera in Morón, a suburb of Buenos Aires. She earned the title of Guitar Professor at age 19, and by age 22 she earned the degree of Superior Guitar Professor, all at Alberto Ginastera, where she continues to teach a full course load today. Zabala also joined the music faculty of the Leopoldo Marechal Art School in Buenos Aires in 1999, and teaches full time presently at both conservatories. Since 2006, Zabala has toured abroad on a nearly annual basis, throughout Europe, North America and Latin America.

Cecilia Zabala is a guitarist, composer, singer and singer-songwriter. She combines the interpretation and creation of music, with guitar and voice, throughout her entire career, mixing sensitivity, expression, technique and intuition. In her music, styles as different as Argentine folklore, contemporary language, jazz, tango, and Brazilian music intersect.
