This free, two-hour workshop is designed for jazz musicians or musicians of any genre aspiring to learn more about the music business, hosted by Tina Priceman and Chris Weller of Big Fish Booking Company--two musicians turned industry professionals that found their way to the business by learning how to advocate for their own art.
Through a mix of presentation, small groups, and Q&A, participants will gain new skills and knowledge to help advance their careers and make their work feel more rewarding and sustainable. The workshop will help musicians outline actionable steps they can take to reach their goals.
Specific topics include:
- setting and attaining goals
- what you should have organized for an email pitch
- how and when to send an email submission
- what to do after you book a show booking concerts/tours
- time management
- market development
- marketing/promotion, organization
- how to appeal to agents
- and more
Participants will walk away with a better understanding of all of the factors that go into being a DIY artist, with a firm grasp on presenting themselves more effectively and professionally in the music world.
