Trace Johnson & Thomas Kasdorf

Pianist Thomas Kasdorf and cellist Trace Johnson team up for an afternoon of chamber music on March 5, 2022 at 3:00pm. Hear the famous romantic Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata in G Minor, the virtuosic Rebecca Clarke Viola Sonata (arranged for cello), and other short works. Advance tickets are $15 ($10 students/members) and can be purchased online at https://trace-and-thomas-allrecital.bpt.me until 2 hours before the performance. Tickets are $20 at the door. Trace Johnson with Cello

Cellist Trace Johnson is a musician from Madison, Wisconsin. Trace has appeared as a chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral musician in a wide variety of ensembles and settings around the world. Equally at home teaching in the studio or performing on stage, Trace is a devoted and thoughtful communicator who enjoys a varied career as a cellist, teacher, and musician.

Trace holds section cello positions at the Sarasota Orchestra in Sarasota, Florida and the Southwest Florida Symphony in Fort Myers, Florida; in Florida, he has performed with Miami’s Nu Deco Ensemble, Sarasota Opera, Miami City Ballet, Palm Beach Symphony, Palm Beach Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Atlantic Classical Orchestra, Boca Symphonia, Orlando Philharmonic, Kravis Pops Orchestra, Symphony of the Americas, Miami Symphony, Orchestra Miami, South Florida Symphony, and the New World Symphony. Thomas Kasdorf Pianist

Thomas Kasdorf is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance, where he studied with Prof. Christopher Taylor, and where he was selected to be an inaugural member of the Perlman Piano Trio. His work with the Trio and with other instrumentalists has been featured in performances on Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Live at The Midday” series. He appeared as a soloist with the Middleton Community Orchestra in performances of Beethoven's Triple Concerto and Mozart's Concerto K. 488. Of a recent performance with MCO, Isthmus Magazine wrote "Quite avoiding the temptations to virtuosic display and showy overstatement, he treated his assignment with a gentle delicacy.”  He was co-winner of the Irving Shain Woodwind and Piano Duo Competition, with collaborative partner, flutist Morgann Davis and awarded the Bolz Prize of the Madison Symphony Orchestra.
