This experiential learning opportunity will cover advanced novel-sized concepts that can benefit both the beginner and seasoned authors. We will break down complex master-level concepts into simple and highly accessible lessons. This class can benefit all writers, including novelists, short story writers, screenwriters and playwrights.
Master the art of plot with seven secrets of successful writers. Learn how to assemble an amazingly effective plot-lovers tool belt by fusing the lessons of seasoned authors and master storytellers.
Complex concepts will be deconstructed using a famous picture book—that’s right, a story with only 100 words! But it didn’t start out that way. We will also review a summary sheet of Joseph Campbell’s mythic structure sequencing, and explore of the work of Syd Fields (aka the screenwriter’s Savior.)
This is hands-on workshop will you show you how to build plots by employing a graphic visioning tool the author has used to combat her own dyslexic challenges: Aristotle’s Upside Down Checkmark (based on Freitag’s Pyramid). This tool will help you envision and create a blueprint for your story.
Come prepared to think outside the box. You will take away practical, time-tested ideas and liberating structures to free your writing, and maybe, even your life.
