This workshop has been cancelled.
Today more than ever we are called upon to step forward and stand-up for what we believe in. Creativity has always played a central role in social change movements and this workshop will be an opportunity to explore creative messaging and delivery. We will begin doing a short writing exercise with the group; next students will be led in crafting their own political haikus and imagery that we will transfer to upcycled patches, pins, shirts, and signs. Students will also be encouraged to develop either an individual or group project, which could be anything from art interventions, to movement and/or vocal based “performance art” for rallies and marches; or whatever else participants dream up! No matter what your social and political beliefs are, you are welcome in this workshop-- the focus will be on building connection and creative response.
This class will be co-taught by Nancy Judd and Heather Swan.
