Creating a Video Poem: The Basics

Are you a poet interested in creating a trailer for your book, a video of a poem, or creating something new? Are you a filmmaker looking to try this short form? Are you neither, but curious about how text and image can work together and looking to try something new? This workshop is for you! From April 24 to May 8, 2021, we will review some of the free software and royalty-free content options available, learns some tricks and tips for making effective and efficient choices, and finally, make and share a video poem.

NB:  The instructors will be using the following freely available software: iMovie and Keynote. You are, of course, welcome to use other similar software but be aware the instructors might not be able to help you troubleshoot and workshop examples might look different and require some adaption on your part. Please download iMovie and familiarize yourself with the basics (opening a project, adding media) before the workshop begins. Keynote will allow you to create a larger variety of text effects throughout your video, but is optional.
